On Sunday the 28th March we drove upto Lancelin, some 120 k north of Perth city, for a Baja bash in the snowy white sand dunes about one kilometre to the north of Lancelin township.
We arrived around 10.30 am at which time the sky was crystal clear & the temperature down around 30 c. Setting up the tent structures to protect us from the heat proved somewhat of a task. By the time all was ready, man was it ever hot & humid. For a change we did not get blasted by the usual strong south westerleys that tear in from the Indian Ocean.
Plenty of Baja enthusiasts began arriving late morning. A track was set up running the length & breadth of a huge white sand dune right in front of our camp site. Was not long & the blast of Baja engines roared around the dunes.
I had both my Baja’s tearing around the course & for a change all went well without any major breakdown in performance or parts. By mid-day my Dad had the BBQ going & all enjoyed plenty of BBQ hotdogs with any variety of sauces. Delicious. And without a strong wind we enjoyed the BBQ without the addition of sand as an extra!
My Dad also had his trail bike, a quad & the bush basher in which anyone who wished, took a turn running all over the sand dunes.
Anyway by 2 PM the humidity really pushed the envelope & conditions became extremely difficult. As a result people had no choice but to pack up their Baja’s & head south to get out of the heat.
All in all a lot of fun. We are now planning the next Baja bash for the near future. I will post details on the blog shortly. Thanks to all you guys & gals that went to the trouble to join me at Lancelin.
Took my baja out for a drive with the new fullforce RC high flow fuel kit and seems to be the same as stock but neatens up the the fuel lines and with the metal grommets help the flow of fuel. Great product and easy to install. I also swapped the exhaust back to the DDM Rear Dominator pipe, which has alot more top end power than my old GBE Side bleed pipe.
Heres some more video of my baja with part installed. Got the front wheels off the ground.
Just invested in a killswitch from PB’s kill switches. Have to say I received it very quickly all the way from USA to Australia in a few days. These are designed so you dont get a run away car that can cause massive damage to your RC car. With a kill switch investment, the engine can be switched off from the 3rd channel on your receiver and if you lose power or radio problems it will also shut off the engine.
Anyway I brought kit number 3. This kit already has the wiring soldered to the connectors and also has the CY push button kill switch. It is also heat shrinked and zip tied. So all you have to do is install it which was very easy to do.
Visit website and order one of these kill switches from www.rckillswitch.com as it will save your car in the event of a run away. Thanks for reading
Heres how my baja looks now with some new parts installed. I recently installed the Fullforce RC high flow fuel kit and Fullforce RC 3 piece window kit. These are great products. Check my other posts for reviews of these products.
The Fullforce RC High Fuel flow kit was easy to install & came with enough tube. Make sure you measure before you cut the tube. It is a lot thicker than stock tubing. The metal gromets now will not pinch, avoiding reducing fuel flow. I have yet to test it & but will take out on the weekend for a test. Thanks to fullforce RC.
(PART TWO)
The Fullforce RC 3 piece window kit is orange & came well packaged with all the necessary clips and screws for mounting. I like the side windows as they can be opened and closed. The best way to hold the nuts is to use the multi tool that came with your Baja (tools) and use a allen key or electric drill and tighten them while holding the nut. I found this easy. Now it protects the Baja from big objects like rocks and sticks, and some dirt. Thanks again to Fullforce RC.
visit there website at www.fullforcerc.com and view all there products. All great products that I would recommend.
1. Full-Force RC high flow fuel line kit for HPI Baja 5b
This kit will hopefully increase fuel flow, prevent restriction and increase the horsepower of any engine.
2. Full-Force RC-3 piece windshield set for HPI Baja 5b. Protects the Baja from rocks, dirt, etc
3. TGN billet filter cap for stock or TGN Redneck filter, replace stock plastic one on front of filter, also features a small grease lip to help further seal the cap against the filter.
Thats all for now will let you know how they go when I get them.
Hi, I am back from Lancelin sand dunes. What a great day I had with my Baja. Only broke one thing… the spur gear e-clip popped off. Anyway took lots of spares and got it running again in no time. Here are some photos of the day.
As I said, it went great! Will have some video soon. Stay tuned.
Finally taking my Baja to Lancelin Sand Dunes. Lancelin is about an hour and a half drive north of PerthWA, Australia. For a taste of real adventure head to the Lancelin sand dunes.
It’s a great place to take your Baja for a bash, throw your paddles on and head to Lancelin. I have been there many times before. It should be great. I will add more info when I return from lancelin. Stay tuned.
